Celtic v Hamilton (Wed Jan 27th 2021)

Updated: Jan 28, 2021

Celtic 2 (Griffiths 12, Eduoard 48)

Hamilton 0

Elyounoussi playing in the No.10 got an assist for Griffiths's goal and Griffiths returned then favour for Edouard.

Celtic had 24 shots with 7 being on target. Possession was 75% with 839 touches. Celtic had 6 corners and touches in the box were 37. Total Passes were 549 with a Passing accuracy of 78%. Celtic had 31 crosses. Possession in the final third was 34% and Celtic passes in the final third were 235.

A lot of stats not too dissimilar to our first game of the season against Hamilton - shots 24v25, touches 839v878, pass% 86%v88% but corners were well down 6v11 and shots on target were well down 7v15 and slight decline in possession 75%v81%.

15min segments of performance were a bit less volatile in this game than previous couple.

Edouard was stats Man of the Match. He had 1 goal, 6 shots, 57 touches, 38 passes, 92% pass rate, 3 key passes, 3 successful dribbles and 7 touches in the box.

Ntcham, Jullien and Forrest were unavailable with Frimpong sold. Brown was suspended. Barkas was dropped for Bain and Christie dropped for Elyounoussi with Elyounoussi dropping into the No.10 role and Turnbull dropping back from the No.10 role to No.8 role on the right of the diamond.

This was Celtic's 33rd different combination of starting 11 in 36 games this season. Quite staggering. (More on that/team selections to follow in another post).

Celtic lined up with (442diamond);

- Bain

- Ajer, Bitton, Duffy and Taylor

- Soro

- Turnbull Elyounoussi and McGregor

- Edouardand Griffiths

Rogic, Christie and Ajeti came on as subs. Ajeti getting his first appearance in 2021.

Key note - A lot of stats not dissimilar to our first game of the season versus Hamilton but the main one was we scored 5 that day and Hamilton were there for the taking today if we could have found more rhythm.
