Dundee Utd v Celtic (Sat Aug 22nd 2020)

Dundee Utd 0

Celtic 1 (Ajeti 83)

Celtic's second away match of the season and first away win after dropping points at Kilmarnock.

Christie was Celtic's best player for the 2nd league match in a row. A man of the match performance that had 9 shots at goal (3 on target) 83 touches and 2 key passes. A key pass for Bitton in the box from a free kick in 27mins and a key pass for Jullien in the box from a corner in 46mins.

McGregor had 4 key passes and Ntcham had 95% passing accuracy with 36 accurate passes. Celtic had an NP xG of 2.59 while Dundee Utd's was only 0.40 suggesting that Celtic should have won this more comfortably than they did with a 83rd minute winner. Celtic had a really good 23 shots with 9 being on target. Possession was 64% (down 6% the previous league game and down 17% from the first game of the season at home to Hamilton). Passing accuracy was down also to 82%. Celtic had 10 corners and touches in the box were a very good 41 (up 19 from the last league game). Passes were only 488 (down 197 from the first game of the season). There were 2 changes from the previous league game with Ntcham coming in for Forrest and Bitton coming in for Ajer. Bitton had already replaced Ajer for the midweek European game and kept his place in the team. Frimpong (who played the last league game but was dropped midweek) came back in at the expense of Elhamed.

Christie went out wide to replace Forrest with Ntcham playing in the number 10 position for his first start of the season (following 3 sub appearances in a row). Celtic lined up with; - Barkas - Frimpong, Jullien, Bitton and Taylor - McGregor and Brown - Christie, Ntcham and Elyounoussi - Edouard Klimala came on for his 4th sub appearance in a row and also coming on as subs were Ajer, Forrest and Ajeti for his league debut. An interesting note from the game was that Celtic had 72 long balls in the game (15% of total passes) compared to 51 and 41 (8% and 6%) in the first 2 league games of the season.

A key positive from the game was Ajeti scoring on his debut.

A shot from outside the box from Christie is saved and Ajeti headers the rebound back towards go goal then when the ball comes back out he is sharp to finish it.

Ajeti puts the ball in the netty :)
